The Omaha City Council has proposed a nearly 30 percent increase in the sewer rates as Omaha continues to upgrade as part of the Clean Solutions Omaha (CSO!) program. According to the Omaha World-Herald, this means sewer bills will soar to $60 monthly, vs. the $12 monthly a home owner was charged when the program began in 2007. If approved, the increases would begin in January of 2019.
Stothert expects the sewer rates to increase indefinitely as the city expands, and continues to cooperate with the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality.
